The administrative contact is the person or organization authorized by the domain name licence holder to act on behalf of the legal entity listed as the licence holder of the domain name. The administrative contact should be able to answer non-technical questions about the licence holder’s plans for using the domain name. The administrative contact is typically a senior person within the organisation.

The billing contact is the person or organization who will be invoiced for registrations and renewals of the domain name. The billing contact will receive billing statements; payment and renewal notice and other billing related correspondence for the domain name licence.

Generally, the technical contact is the person or organization who maintains the domain name registrant's primary name server, resolves software, and database files. The technical contact keeps the name server running and interacts with technical people in other domains to solve problems that affect the domain name.

If the technical or billing contact information is invalid or unavailable, it will be presumed that the domain name registrant has authorized the administrative contact to perform those roles.
